Every year, young people are faced with the question of which career path they would like to take. Wishes, interests and abilities usually go hand in hand with conventions. And so young people often choose a career path that doesn't make them happy. The young company teech, which developed a virtual classroom at the start of the pandemic, is actively tackling this problem and has developed the largest digital live event for career guidance on its own platform.
From November 24-26, teech invited over 80 speakers from the fields of sport, medicine, business, art and politics to talk to young people about their personal and exciting careers. Participants were able to take part in talks and workshops in various digital spaces and get involved interactively. More than 500 schools with around 80,000 participants responded to this call.
Professional soccer player Phillip Lahm was interviewed by the sports journal 11 Freunde and gave a glimpse behind the scenes of his sporting career. Silvie Meis gave an exciting interview on how to become a model, presenter and entrepreneur. TV chef Christian Rach, who dropped out of university to become a chef, also provided inspiration in his talk about his career, which was not straightforward. Nicola Winter reported on how to become a pilot and rocket scientist and star chef Tim Raue gave insights into his profession.
In addition to the prominent personalities, there were also many icons in various fields. Dr. Dilek Gürsoy, who has been actively researching the development of newer and more innovative artificial heart systems for over 10 years, illustrated the importance of research and development in medicine. Social media-savvy politician Thomas Sattelberger talked about what it takes to play an active role in politics. Astronaut Ulrich Walter provided inspiration in his talk about the vastness of the universe and explained his perspective from space: "There are no national borders or other boundaries. They're all just in our heads!"
Numerous other speakers, some of whom work as coaches and trainers themselves, inspired and encouraged people to break through conventions in order to define their own strengths.
Emanuele Monaco - founder and managing director of teech clarifies: "The potential and talents of young, motivated people are wasted if their ideas and aspirations lie outside of social norms - where is the room for new ideas and up-and-coming pioneers?" Exactly these common phrases were also taken up in the parallel advertising campaign together with the media giant Ströer, referring in part to speakers at the teech Inspiration Days. For example, "Everyone says: Life is not a concert of wishes. - We say: Why don't you become a DJ?" Ströer provided media volume on digital screens in selected German cities.
This time, the event was held under the patronage of Damian Boeselager, founder of the Volt Party and Member of the European Parliament.
After a short breather, planning for the next Inspiration Days will continue in spring 2022. About the homepage Inspiration Days - teech interested schools, teachers and pupils can already register now.
