Corona has left many pupils with gaps in their knowledge of varying sizes. As a result, the demand for online tutoring options continues unabated. To close these gaps, Germany's largest tutoring provider Studienkreis and the young platform provider teech have joined forces. Their joint mission: to provide pupils with individual support in the digital classroom.
According to Education Minister Karliczek, around 25 percent of pupils have fallen behind in their learning during the coronavirus pandemic. Teachers and parents are perplexed by the challenge of how to make up for this - mainly because pupils' learning deficits vary greatly. To ensure that the demand for online tutoring can take place securely and in compliance with data protection regulations, Germany's largest tutoring provider Studienkreis has joined forces with the startup teech.
teech launched its digital classroom in December 2020. Around 500 schools across Germany are already using the video conferencing tool. A large digital whiteboard is at the center of the action. The teacher can use video conferencing to digitally reproduce the lesson, upload the learning material to the board and work on it together with the pupils. Notes can be taken and board images can be saved or downloaded.A decisive advantage: the digital classroom is data protection compliant, as all data is hosted on German servers.
The cooperation between Studienkreis and teech enables the approximately 120,000 existing Studienkreis tutoring students to receive individual support and encouragement within their own four walls. "We are convinced," says Joel Monaco, one of the founding brothers of teech, "that people learn best when individual needs and strengths are recognized and supported. Ideally in a familiar environment in which they feel comfortable - namely at home." Individual support at Studienkreis is based on their scientifically sound learning concept with pedagogical principles that have been tried and tested thousands of times. As a digital pioneer in the tutoring industry, Studienkreis has provided ten million hours of online tutoring during the coronavirus lockdowns alone.
Lorenz Haase CEO of Studienkreis welcomes the current discussion on how digital learning support can help to close learning gaps. "The cooperation between teech and the Studienkreis is a pioneering start to enable pupils to catch up on missed schoolwork.", says Haase.
